Christophorus

Named after the patron of travellers, the photographic installation shows my fascination for the clash of modern life with religious tradition. The work consists of different parts including an arrangement of found footage taken from a benediction of cars, a book in which visitors of highway churches have been writing their concerns, a model car of the papamobil and images of german highway churches. Using different sources and materials, I examine how technology and prosperity combined with belief in the transcendental or even outright superstition, affects society.
